Intracranial vessel wall imaging: current applications and clinical implications
Conventional CT, MR, and digital subtraction angiography rely on the presence of luminal narrowing for the identification of vascular pathology offering limited insight into the offending pathophysiologic mechanism affecting the vessel. High-resolution MRI vessel wall imaging (VWI) has the potential to directly depict and characterize vessel wall pathology affecting the intracranial circulation...
متن کاملAssociation of rs12913832 in the HERC2 Gene Affecting Human Iris Color Variation
Introduction: Human eye colour as a physical trait is based on the developmental biology and genetic determinants of the structure known as the iris, which is part of the uveal tract of the eye. Prediction of human visible characteristics (EVCs) by genotyping informative SNPs in DNA as biological witness opens up a new avenue in the forensic genetic. Variation of iris color rely on the amounts...

متن کاملCerebral vasculitides and non-arteriosclerotic vasculopathies: A Theoretical Review
Gross division of vasculitides is still today dependent upon the histological characteristics of the disease; nevertheless anatomic-pathological classifications mainly rely upon the diameter of the injured vessel and also upon the fact that the process is granulomatous, or not. Authors describe main cerebral vasculitides of primary and secondary origin, as well as some of the main non-atheroscl...
متن کاملPredicting Obstetric Vasculopathies through Study of Diastolic Notch and other Indices of Resistance to Blood Flow in Uterine Artery
Obstetric vasculopathies are a set of apparently heterogeneous and poorly understood conditions. Conditions like recurrent miscarriages due to fetal demise, pre-eclampsia, IUGR, recurrent still births and accidental hemorrhage all seem to have the same underlying etiopathology. They are grouped into one large set coined as ‘Obstetric Vasculopathies’. Resistance to blood flow in the uterine arte...
